About this shop

Who the hell are we anyway?

Silent started in 2009 in Vista, California by Marty Ulrich in the industrial park hanging out with the likes of Andrew Brussard and Gene Bird. The focus back then was manufacturing. People often ask how I came up with the name Silent. It began with a quest to find a chainring for my new fixed gear bike. Appalled by the limited selection and insane prices from other companies, I found it was easier and cheaper to make parts than to buy them - after all, I was a metal fabricator by trade and we had plenty of "drop" sheet metal laying around from other jobs. So I designed a chainring based on my own measurements and math, based on a SRAM S1 chain. It fit like a glove. I then beveled and polished the teeth just because I could. The result was a dead-silent chainring. While riding down a grade with the wind at my back, I was in some kind of vortex. All I could hear was the sound of the tires effortlessly rolling down the pavement - no wind, no chain noise. This bike had been Silenced! The rest is history.
Since moving to Colorado, we moved into the service retail sector. Opening shop in 2020 in Cedaredge, CO allowed the shop to grow and become what it is today. Now located just down the road in Delta, CO, we serve both the rider and the slider! We offer an vast array of custom services for your cycle or ski. Stop in today!!
